The Red Bull Ring in Spielberg is the home of the Austrian Grand Prix, set in a natural bowl in the Styrian mountains of Austria. The site first hosted Formula 1 as the fast, sweeping Österreichring from 1970 to 1987. Rebuilt in shorter, modern form as the A1-Ring, it returned from 1997 to 2003, then was redeveloped under Red Bull ownership, reopening in 2011 before Formula 1 came back in 2014.

The 10-turn lap is short but punchy. Power matters most early on, where three straights are joined by two uphill right-handers; the second half then flows downhill through faster, sweeping bends, among them the corner named after Jochen Rindt, Austria's first world champion. The elevation changes give spectators sweeping views across much of the circuit, which also hosts MotoGP.

  • Hosted the Austrian Grand Prix as the Österreichring from 1970 to 1987.
  • Redesigned by Hermann Tilke as the A1-Ring, which opened in 1996.
  • Also staged the Styrian Grand Prix in 2020 and 2021.

What to watch for: Heavy braking into Turns 3 and 4 at the end of the long straights offers the best overtaking chances, while track limits and tyre wear can decide close battles.
