Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton is a British driver from Stevenage, Hertfordshire, who shares the record of seven Formula 1 world titles with Michael Schumacher. Signed by McLaren as a teenager, he won the F3 Euro Series and GP2 titles before making his debut for the team in 2007, missing the championship by a single point as a rookie. A year later he became the first Black world champion, clinching the 2008 title on the final lap in Brazil.
A move to Mercedes in 2013 brought six more titles between 2014 and 2020, and Hamilton holds the all-time records for Grand Prix wins and pole positions. Knighted in 2021 and a prominent campaigner for greater diversity in motorsport through his Mission 44 foundation, he joined Ferrari in 2025 and won the sprint race in China in his first season with the Italian team.
