Autodromo Nazionale Monza, the home of the Italian Grand Prix, sits in the royal park of Monza, north of Milan, Italy. Built in 1922, it is one of the oldest purpose-built racing circuits in the world and has hosted every Italian Grand Prix of the World Championship era except in 1980, when the race moved to Imola. Its long straights and high speeds earned it the nickname 'the Temple of Speed'.

Cars run minimal downforce and spend most of the lap at full throttle, producing the highest average speeds of the season. Key corners include the Variante del Rettifilo at the end of the main straight, Curva Grande, the two Lesmo bends, the Variante Ascari and the Curva Alboreto, formerly the Parabolica. Sections of the historic banked oval still stand within the park.

  • Built in 1922, it is one of the world's oldest purpose-built circuits.
  • Has hosted every World Championship Italian Grand Prix except 1980.
  • Cars run at full throttle for around 80 per cent of the lap.

What to watch for: Slipstreaming shapes most battles, and heavy braking into the first chicane, the Variante del Rettifilo, provides the main overtaking chance as well as frequent first-lap drama.
