Franco Alejandro Colapinto is an Argentine driver from Pilar, in Buenos Aires province, who won the Spanish F4 championship in 2019 and finished fourth in FIA Formula 3 with MP Motorsport in 2023. He was racing in Formula 2 with the same team when Williams gave him his Formula 1 debut in place of Logan Sargeant at the 2024 Italian Grand Prix.
Colapinto became the first Argentine to compete in Formula 1 since Gastón Mazzacane in 2001 and scored points in his second race, finishing eighth in Azerbaijan, before adding a tenth place in Austin. He joined Alpine as a reserve driver for 2025 and replaced Jack Doohan in the race line-up from the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix onwards.
