Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team is the works outfit of the German manufacturer, based in Brackley, England, with its power units built at nearby Brixworth. Mercedes-Benz first competed in the world championship in 1954 and 1955, when Juan Manuel Fangio won the drivers' title in both seasons. It returned as a constructor in 2010 by buying champions Brawn GP, whose Brackley team traces its lineage through Honda and British American Racing to Tyrrell, which first raced its own chassis in 1970.
Under Toto Wolff, Mercedes dominated the early turbo-hybrid era, winning a record eight consecutive constructors' championships from 2014 to 2021 and seven drivers' titles through Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. George Russell has won races for the team since joining in 2022, and Kimi Antonelli replaced Hamilton in 2025. In 2026 Mercedes also supplies power units to McLaren, Williams and Alpine.
